DWS and Cobra Watertech Hand Over Sanitary Material to Victoria Primary

On 05 March 2021, Cobra Watertech part of Lixil and the Western Cape Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) handed over sanitary materials to 60 females learners of Victoria Park Primary School in Worcester. The handing over of the sanitary formed part of the National Water Month which is the flagship project of DWS.

Mr. Igshaan Hugo from Cobra Watertech says given the void left by COVID-19, it is important to uplift women and in particular those from disadvantage communities like Worcester. Therefore skills development programmes and personal development is crucial to uplifting our communities.

In her remarks during the handing over, Ms Boniswa Hene, Acting DWS Western Cape Provincial Head said the initiative is a good model how Government, Private sector and Civil Society can work together for the betterment of the communities “Women and girls are the future and these is not just a slogan the slogan, Girls need to be empowered to have the ability to develop the communities”, said Hene.

On behalf of Victoria Primary, Ms Lombard, Deputy Principal of Victoria Primary School expressed gratitude to Cobra Watertech and DWS. She said Victoria Primary School elated as most of the learners from the community have challenges when it comes to sanitary necessities and hygiene.

The official partnership between Cobra Watertech and DWS dates back in 2018. One of the key successes of the partnership was successfully engagement of several community leaders/members and facilitated an introduction to basic plumbing workshops.
