To make Cobra’s Half an Hour Lasagne Power - deconstructed lasagne recipe you will need:


  • 2 Medium sized onions
  • 3 Cloves of garlic
  • 15 ml Extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil if you prefer
  • 500 g Lean ground beef mince
  • Optional: 5 ml dried Origanum and 5 ml Italian mixed herbs
  • 750 ml (3 Cups) of tomato and onion sauce 
  • 5 x Lasagne pasta sheets
  • 100 ml Tomato paste 
  • 5 ml Brown sugar
  • 2.5 ml Salt
  • 1 ml Pepper
  • 200ml Small-curd cottage cheese
  • 60 ml Milk
  • 500 ml Grated mozzarella cheese
  • 50 ml Shredded parsley
  • Crisped ciabatta bread, baked and torn into dunk-able pieces


Set your timer for 35 minutes and get the family ready to feast on Cobra’s Half an Hour Lasagne Power!


  1. Begin this deconstructed lasagne recipe by peeling and dicing the onions and garlic cloves while heating the olive or coconut oil in a large saucepan. 
  2. Fry on a medium heat until tender and golden brown, being careful to avoid burning or caramelisation as this will alter the soft flavour intended in the dish. 
  3. Add the ground beef mince meat to the onion and garlic mix, together with the tomato paste and gently brown the meat until cooked and tender. Should you wish to at this stage, you may also like to add some dried origanum or Italian herbs to taste.
  4. Add 750 ml of tomato and onion pasta sauce and lower your stoves heat to a low to medium simmer.
  5. Roughly break up the lasagne pasta sheets and drop them into the mince and tomato mix keeping in mind that this Cobra Half an Hour Lasagne Power is a deconstructed lasagne dish, meant to be messy, a little bit soupy but undeniably delicious!
  6. Allow to gently simmer for 15 minutes while you prepare the béchamel.
  7. Mix the cottage cheese, milk, salt and pepper and add to the mince and tomato mix once it has simmered for 15 minutes.
  8. Add 5 ml’s of brown sugar to neutralise the acidity of the tomato.
  9. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes 
  10. Finally, add 500 ml of grated mozzarella cheese and allow all this cheesy goodness to melt through. This will also help to create a bind to all the ingredients in Cobra’s Half an Hour Lasagne Power
  11. Serve your Cobra deconstructed lasagne in deep soup bowls garnished to taste with shredded parsley with crispy ciabatta bread, baked and broken into pieces to dunk.
